Easy Candle Making

Candle making is such a fun easy way to make gifts and save money. Grab one of my candle making kits from my shop and follow these instructions to make your own at home.

Step 1: PREPARE

Adhere wicks to the center of the bottom of vessels using double sided stickers. Thread wicks through popsicle sticks to keep centered.

Step 2: MELT

Met your soy wax in a double boiler over your stove or a microwave safe container in your microwave (a glass measure cup with a handle and spout works perfect). In the microwave I heat the wax for 30 seconds at a time and keep checking until wax is completely melted or heated to about 175-185 degrees Fahrenheit. Pro tip: Use a digital point and shoot thermometer to check temperature.

Step 3: FRAGRANCE

Unscrew fragrance and take plastic topper off jar to pour into your glass jar of melted wax. Stir for 2 minutes with wooden stirrer or until temperature drops to about 135 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4: POUR

Slowly pour wax into vessel, careful not to overfill, leaving a little room at the top.

Step 5: ENJOY

Let candle cure for 24-48 hours. Trim wick to 1/4 inch above wax before burning. Make sure the entire top layer is melted the very first time you light candle to prevent tunneling.
